Announcement From The Commandant –
Cadet Warrant Officer Southern Area Appointment
Following calls for Expressions of Interest for the position of Cadet Warrant Officer Southern Area (WOSA), I am very pleased to announce that the following appointment has been made:
Cadet Warrant Officer Class Two Emily Atkinson of the City of Dunedin Cadet Unit.
CDTWOII Atkinson will take up her new appointment with effect from 15 July 2018 on promotion to CDTWOI. She will be posted to the strength of the Southern Area Cadet Forces Training and Support Unit for the duration of her two-year tenure as WOSA.
Acknowledgement must be made of the work that the inaugural outgoing WOSA, CDTWOI Hayden Adams, has done in support of the Southern Area. Being the first is always difficult in trying to establish a routine, sorting out what can be achieved and establishing workable networks. CDTWOI Adams efforts have been valued in this regard. I’m pleased to say that he will be remaining in the NZCF as a Supplementary Staff member.
The creation and introduction of the Area Cadet Warrant Officer positions was a continuation of the initiatives under Operation TAUIRA. These positions provide a clear conduit for the cadet ‘voice’ to be heard at a strategic level, and also provide another development pathway for those identified cadets of exceptional maturity and ability. These positions continue to illustrate the value that I place on our senior cadets, particularly their contribution to the leadership and direction of the organisation.
I congratulate CDTWOII Atkinson on her appointment. I have high expectations that she will add further value to our organisation through mentoring, guidance and advice for the Cadet WOs and NCOs of the Southern Area.
